Cavitron Care Online Support FAQ

How do I properly adjust water flow through the Cavitron handpiece?

VIDEO TUTORIAL:

All Cavitron models offer linear adjustment of water flow to maximize lavage delivery and properly cool the tip in an effort to keep the patient as comfortable as possible during an ultrasonic scaling procedure. The actual visual appearance of water flow from the tip, however, may differ between different Cavitron models and different styles of Cavitron ultrasonic inserts. The more traditional Cavitron insert designs tend to produce a mist-like spray pattern or water halo, while newer slimline and focus spray designs offer a more direct water flow, reducing aerosols and improving the clinician's field of vision. Care should be taken not to adjust water flow too low, as the insert tip and/or handpiece may become hot during use.

More recent Cavitron models offer a water flow control adjustment on the handpiece cable at the base of the Cavitron handpiece. Older models include the water flow control as a knob on the front panel of the unit adjacent to the power control.
